If you are a fan of David Cronenberg’s  films (especially The Fly) you really should be watching The Strain. It’s disgusting. Don’t get me wrong though, I love every gut wrenching moment. In the third episode of this already VERY popular horror series the four “survivors” are thrust into there vampire transformation.  The focus in this episode is on goth-metal rockstar Gabriel Bolivar and Captain Redforn. It starts simply enough; loose teeth, bleeding gums, hair falling out, etc. All this time the CDC team is with Redforn as he seems to be getting more and more ill. At one point Gabriel shows his personal doctor his…uh…bits and pieces…and the Doctor says, “that’s not good” the next time we see Gabriel he is peeing and a “plop” is heard. That’s right…in the what looks similar to the angels from Kevin Smith’s Dogma we are shown a shapeless, genital less crotch. This show is somehow funny in how gross and off the wall it is…but NOT in a bad way! I have enjoyed how nonsensical it is. I gotta love a horror story that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The episode ends with the CDC crew (our heroes) coming face to face with their first encounter with one of the Vampire infected. Violence ensues.
