“I’m me, Ray.. I’m me again.”

While Ninjak and the Bloodshot Squad try to fend off the tides of the nanite virus that has infected the citizens and allies of New York, Bloodshot (Ray) is in the dreamscape in the hopes to revert Deathmate back to Kay. Will Bloodshot succeed? Or will he lose himself in the depths of Deathmate’s mind?

Jeff Lemire continues to tell a strong story and this issue is an example of his constant improvement on his run with Bloodshot. The mind/ dream sequence with Bloodshot and Deathmate is well written and well thought out. When I was reading this, I was listening to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross “ A Minute To Breathe” which actually synced up well like a musical score matching up with a movie scene. With or without the music, it’s a touching scene as it is a bit trippy. Seeing how both Bloodshot and Deathmate little by little revert to various ages is a nice indication of how connected these two characters are. This issue focused more on Bloodshot than it did on the bloodshot squad, which is a nice break since it gives the reader a more vested interest as to what Bloodshot is as a person in this mini.

Braithwaite’s art continues the cinematic streak that he has done effectively well, along with the rest of the team on this book. Another solid entry in this mini event. I’d give this issue a 9 out of 10. It’s a good mini-series, and if you’ve been following Lemire’s stuff on Bloodshot, I’m pretty sure you’d agree.
