New show. New toys. New manufacturer.

This past year, the Cartoon Network show Ben 10 got a reboot. The creators decided to go back to the basis and make Ben a 10-year boy again. Of course with a new cartoon means new toys. For the last couple of Ben 10 series, Bandai was making the toys, but the license changed to a new toy company. Playmates, best known for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys, have now started to produce toys based on the new cartoon, and quite honestly they are awesome.

I was able to get a hold of two actions figures (Heatblast and Four Arms) and an Omnitrix.

Starting with the action figures, they are quite amazing. Each is about 5 inches tall and multiple points of articulation for lots of posing action. There’s no ab-crunch, but that’s still OK.

Heatblast comes with 2 fireballs. One that he holds and one that looks like he’s shooting it.

Four Arms lives up to his names. I love the fact that all four arms are posable. He comes with a chain that you can break apart.

The paint jobs are very good here. I didn’t see any slop at all. And the color do really pop on the figures. Very impressive.

The Omnitrix is just perfect for role play action. You can choose from 10 different alien heroes with the dial. When you have the one you want, you just push the top down and there are several phrases for each alien. There’s probably about 40 different voice recordings on it.

Here’s my son demonstrating the Omnitrix.

Bottom line, Playmates has really hit it out of the park with the Ben 10 toys. These are all a lot of fun. I can’t recommend these enough.

The Ben 10 toys are available at most major retailers.
