Slots #2 by Image is another solid story!

Following up on the previous issue, where the scene was set for a boxing match, issue 2 delivers as promised. I’m really impressed with all aspects of this title. Writer and artist Dan Panosian has created a tale of love gone wrong, coupled with plenty of atmosphere. An atmosphere of desperation, sweat, and longing.

The art style is appropriate: smoothly hand rendered figures trapped in Vegas, in a current/retro style reminiscent of Mad magazine’s Mort Drucker.

In this issue, we learn why several of the characters hate each other. And rather than try to explain the convoluted storyline involving these multiple characters, I’ll just state that I highly recommend Slots. It demonstrates that today’s comics and creators can deliver stories with depth and maturity.

Slots #2. Image Comics. 25 pages of content for $3.99

About Alan Spinney

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words… the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let’s see!!
