The highly anticipated Black Panther films gets an amazing Minimates box set

The Black  Panther film does arrive in theaters until February 16th, but Diamond Select is releasing a Minimates box set filled with 4 great figures.

First up is Black Panther. Now we did get a Marvel Cinematic Universe version before when the Captain America: Civil War Minimates came out. There are some differences. On the Civil War version the ears on the mask are up, but on this new one, the ears are back. A little smaller. It’s a nice touch. The design is more streamlined and almost like Black Panther comic artist Brian Stelfreeze’s art. It’s really nice. The mask is also removable so you can see T’Challa’s face and put hair on him. Also, the hands are not your normal Minimates hands. They are claws. It’s these little details that Diamond Select does with the Minimates that just make them so incredible.

Next is Killmonger in his powered up panther suit. In terms of design, it’s the same mold as Black Panther. The details on Killmonger’s suit are different. While Blank Panther has like a blue hue to his suit, Killmonger more has a yellowish hue. It’s definitely easy to tell the two characters apart. Like Black Panther, you can take off the mask and he comes with a hairpiece. The hair is the same as Black Panther, but from what we’ve seen in the trailer, Killmonger has some dreadlocks on his head. I’m a little bummed that the hair isn’t like how it is in the trailers, but then Diamond Select is privy to things in the film that I haven’t seen yet. So we’ll see when the film comes out. Right now only a minor complaint.

M’Baku is up next. Now, unless you read comics, you might not be familiar with M’Baku. In the comics, M’Baku is also known as Man-Ape and part of a White Gorilla Cult. I’ve seen some pictures from the movie and it does look there is a link to his comic counterpart. He comes with a staff the fits perfectly into either hand.

Finally, there is Shuri, Black Panther’s sister. She comes with the really cool gauntlets. They each look like a little panther. Pretty neat.

Like all Minimates, they come with a base they can stand on. And of course, the 14 points of articulation for a 2-inch figure is always awesome.

This set is a great warm-up for the Black Panther movie.

You can find these at your local comic shop or directly from Diamond Select.
