After reading the comic I always loved Elseworlds comics. The different lives of the superheroes that I grew up with.

One of the things I like about gaslight it made Batman during the Jack the Ripper times.  And now the animated movie come out I was very happy when I was offered a chance to review it. This movie is nothing like the book which it was based off. During the extras, I found out that it was based on 2 Gotham by Gaslight books: Gotham by Gaslight and Master of the Future.

The story is set in Victorian Gotham while dealing with the Jack the Ripper attacks.  This has the police baffle on who is doing it and why.  All the killings are causing concern about opening Gotham World Fair, which is being built by Millionaire Bruce Wayne.  Bruce is also patrolling the streets during the night as the Batman.  But this Ripper is not a normal Ripper since he can go toe to toe with the Batman.  Without getting into too many details I can say is this is nothing like the book and with all the red herrings you would be surprised to find out who the Ripper really is.  (I love the prison escape scene)

Featuring the voice talent of Bruce Greenwood as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Jennifer Carpenter as Selina Kyle, Anthony Head as Alfred Pennyworth, Chris Cox as Father Callaghan, John DiMaggio as Chief Bullock, David Forseth as Cyrus Gold, Grey Griffin as Sister Leslie/Selina’s singing voice / Jason, Bob Joles as Mayor Tolliver, Yuri Lowenthal as Harvey Dent, Lincoln Melcher as Dickie, Scott Patterson as James Gordon, William Salyers as Hugo Strange, Tara Strong as Marlene / Timmy, Bruce Timm as Arkham Radio Man, Kari Wuhrer  as Barbara-Eileen Gordon / Pamela Isley.

The extra had a preview of another dc animated movie called Suicide Squad hell to pay (coming soon), Justice League Dark, Batman Bad Blood, there are 2 tv shows Batman: Brave and Bold: Trial of Demon, Batman the Animated Series: Showdown Cape fear a 20-minute documentary about the making of the film and the legacy of the original comic book.  I love the way the Bruce Timm. Jim Krieg, Brian Augustyn, Ames Kirshen and Mike Carlin talk about how the comic came to be made and how it transformed in an animated movie.
