The Teen Titans have met their match, clearly, in issue 3 of DC’s Walmart-exclusive Teen Titan comic.

Dan Jurgens is writing, and Scot Eaton is penciling, Wayne Faucher inking, and Jim Charalampiois colouring this 14-page chapter, entitled Dead Reckoning.

This story has a cast of thousands. Well, not literally, but we are introduced briefly to each of the Teen Titans, and their foes, The Fearsome Five! There is a confrontation in the midst of a big city, and both groups are throwing their weight around. Elsewhere, the members of H.I.V.E. have convened, taking advantage of the chaos in the streets.

A densely packed tale to be sure, but well handled here. A good nicely illustrated chapter in this continuing story contained in the DC Walmart series of comic books. Ideal for new readers of Teen Titans. The storytellers take their time to set the scene, which is helpful for younger or new comic readers. And that makes for happy future comic fans!

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
