We’re Simply Meant To Be!

In 1993 Tim Burton introduced the world to stop-motion animated musical A Nightmare Before Christmas. Disney released the film through touchstone pictures because it was “too dark and scary for kids”. The film was eventually re-released by Walt Disney Pictures and re-released in Disney Digital 3-D making it the first stop-motion animated film to be entirely converted to 3D. Twenty-Five years later Diamond Select Toys releases the silver Anniversary Jack Skellington and Sally figures to fans.

Jack Skellington of Halloween town is our first up. Jack comes in coffin type box, his classic black suit. The stripes are silverfish which I’m pretty sure is paying homage to the anniversary although Google shows several different pictures from the movie where some look like white stripes other look grayish I think this version stands out among the earlier released figures from the past. Also included is stand, the downside of Jack is he is no pun intended made of bones so he is thin and fragile and the stand allows for posing and standing also included is a podium so he can talk to the folks of Halloween town.

Overall a great figure durable with multiple points of articulation allows for multiple poses who knows maybe make your own stop-motion version.

Sally a humanoid type ragdoll made of various pieces and stuffed with dead leaves was created by Dr. Finklestein. Sally is in love with Jack and by end of the movie, she shows him how much. Sally’s outfit is also made of cloth and movie accurate. Included accessories are stirring spoon cooking stove and black kettle with some sort of liquid looking type substance in the kettle.

Overall this is my favorite of the four because of her durability and accessories are plentiful. I would have liked to see the stove light up but can’t complain about that when she comes with more accessories than everyone else.

All of the classic figures were great. If you’re a fan then grab these up they make great displayed pieces for any age collector. There will only be one 25th anniversary and these will not stick around long. Thank you Diamond Select Toys for thinking about us the fans and paying homage to such a cult classic.
