The LEGO cast returns and build up the fun brick by brick

Emmet, Lucy, Batman, Unikitty and the rest gang are back. It’s been 5 years since they first appeared on screen and a lot has happened since. When we left off at the end of the first LEGO movie, the citizens of Bricksberg were invaded from creatures from the planet DUPLO. The aliens were finally repelled and the citizens tried to re-build their lives in the Mad Max-like town of Apocalypseburg. While everything might not be awesome, Emmet has lost any of his innocence. While everything is getting back to some sort of normal, the citizens are attacked by invaders from the Sistar System on behalf of Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi. They capture Lucy and the rest of the gang and now it’s up to Emmet to save his friends, with the help of his new ally Rex Dangervest.The first LEGO Movies is a big deal in my house. My son has watched it so many times, we know it verbatim. And that’s not a bad thing either. I quite enjoyed, so I was looking forward to seeing the sequel. And it didn’t let me down at all.
Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Roy Lee bring back the magic of the first film. The jokes are funny, the action is great, and the music is very catchy. You get wrapped up in the film and when it’s over you don’t even realize time has passed.
Reprising their roles are Chris Pratt as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks as Lucy (aka Wyldstyle), Will Arnett as LEGO BatmanTM, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard, and Alison Brie as Unikitty. They are joined by Tiffany Haddish who plays new character Queen Watevra WaNabi. All the actors are so much on point, though it does seem like Will Arnett incorporated a little more from him solo LEGO Batman film. Not complaining, just an observation.
The really wonderful thing about this movie is the animation. It really looks like stop-animation. It’s truly amazing what they can do with the technology to make it move like LEGO. Just impressive as always.
These LEGO films are just great for all ages. It was really worth the 5-year wait! In a word, the film is AWESOME!
