Detective Pikachu invades the Pokemon Trading Card Game!

One of the more anticipated movies of this summer has to be Detective Pikachu. It is based on the world of Pokemon and with Ryan Reynolds voicing the lead character, I have no doubt it will be a hit at the box office.

Pokemon is one of the biggest brands globally. It first appeared as a video game in 1995 and moved on to TV shows, movies, toys and in 1999 a very successful card game. So for Pokemon to add the character from Detective Pikachu was a no brainer.

First I want to thank the folks over at Pokemon for sending these sets to review. My 6-year old freaked when the box arrived at home. He’s a HUGE Pokemon fan and couldn’t wait to add these to his collection.

I was sent:

  • The Pokemon TCG: Detective Pikachu Case File
  • The Pokemon TCG: Detective Pikachu Charizard-GX Case File
  • The Pokemon TCG: Detective Pikachu Mewtwo-GX Case File
  • The Pokemon TCG: Detective Pikachu Greninja-GX Case File

These sets are really cool. Each one of them comes with a pack of card with characters from the film. Unlike regular Pokemon cards which have drawing of the character, these are images from the film. Pretty cool! And they come with the stats that you get with all Pokemon cards. These are ready to battle.

The sets also come with random card packs. The GX packs come with oversize cards and the Greninja packs also has a Greninja pin.

These are a great addition to your Pokemon collection, plus cool to be able to battle as your favorite Detective Pikachu character!
