How do you solve the case of your own death? Doctor Mirage #1, (of 5) from Valiant takes on the task.

Written by Magdalene Visaggio, with Nick Robles on art and Jordie Bellaire on colours, this new title has a fascinating start. Paranormal expert Doctor Shan Fong Mirage was born with the ability to communicate with the dead. But it’s stopped happening. Something’s broken, perhaps? Her attempts to get ‘her gift’ back has led her on a dangerous route. The one she loves is dead. Someone is waiting to communicate with her, but then what??

Dr. Mirage is a great read. Big panels, big drama. Nicely drawn figures. Smartly paced, beautifully coloured. Nick Robles and Jordie Bellaire combine visions to transform the printed page into a mystical space. Time stands still, even in a multiprismic universe. But all too soon, time has returned for us, the reader, and the one month wait starts until we can enjoy issue two!

Valiant, Dr. Mirage, $3.99 for 23 pages of content. Teen +

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
