To celebrate Marvel’s 80th anniversary, Hasbro gives us an incredible Marvel Legends figure based on Alex Ross’ art!

Marvel Comics is 80! It’s almost hard to believe. Of course, right now there are really only 3 characters that are still around in the comics: the original Human Torch, Namor the Sub-Mariner, and of course Captain America. Hasbro has been helping the celebration going with a lot of great figures that capture characters and moments in time. But this one has to be my favorite of them all. A Captain America Marvel Legend, based on Alex Ross’ artwork!

I truly think this figure is awesome, but I do have one complaint about it: It’s a Walmart Exclusive. Whenever I hear those 2 words, “Walmart” and “Exlusive”, I start to cringe. Walmart’s distribution on collectible action figures just hands down sucks. At my local Walmart, they are still selling Ant-Man and the Wasp at full price. Now, this is no reflection on Hasbro as they can not control how their product gets distributed. For once I happened to get lucky and find Cap just as they store clerks were putting him out. Lucky me!!!

As I stated before, this figure is just awesome! The body seems to be the same body as used in previous comic versions of Captain America, but the main difference here is the scales of his upper torso. These just look incredible in 3D. I’ve seen Alex Ross’ Cap in statues, but on an action figure just really works here. Plus they don’t hinder any of the movement at all in the arms or ab.

The blue on the figure is a little darker than what we usually see Cap wear in the comics, but this is based on Alex Ross’ work. Ross likes to color Cap with a darker blue. Here are some examples of this:

Personally, I don’t mind the darker blue. The red and white on the costume really pop against the blue.

Cap comes with 2 different heads. One is the standard Cap head we’ve been getting. The other one is based on Ross’ work. The sculptor at Hasbro has done an amazing job with this head sculpt. I actually like it better than the standard head. It looks like it was ripped out of the comics. Just amazing!

Cap also comes with 2 sets of hands: One set of fists and one set of gripping hands. The sets are easy to change up in the wrists. He also comes with the throwing shield effect. And of course, Cap comes with his shield. On top of all of this, all the points of articulation you love from Marvel Legends.

Hands down this is now my favorite Captain America action figure in my collection. I’m almost going to that this is the quintessential Captain America here. I’m so glad Hasbro made this and it’s a great way to celebrate Marvel Comics 80th!

You can find Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary Captain America at Walmart stores.
