“Everything in this world is magic, except to the magician”
Based off the 1973 film written and directed by Michael Chrichton, which was followed up by a lesser-known sequel Futureworld. Westworld is a sci-fi western themed park populated by androids. The park allows high paying guests to live out fantasies.
Diamond Select Toys released three of the popular characters from the TV show. Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) co-founder and park director. Dr. Ford comes with two heads one with a hat one without, a dog, several sets of hands and a stand. His likeness to Anthony Hopkins is spot-on down to the watch on his lapel.
Delores Abernathy is the oldest host in the park. Her likeness to Evan Rachel Wood is also spot on. She comes with a bag of canned goods. Her dress is plastic and although not as mobile her articulation is made up in her hands and arms. Underneath her skirt her legs are mobile and the detail is down to the undergarments worn during the old west era.
Finally The Man in Black. By far one of my favorite characters. The older version is played by Ed Harris which is what the figure is based off of. Spoiler alert if you have not watched the show do not keep reading. The Man in Black is William who is one of the shareholders of the park. He believes the creator of the park hid mysteries in the park and begins to search them out. The figure dressed in all black comes with a hat, 4 sets of hands, knife, base, and a scalped maze piece.
DST hits it out of the park again. The likeness to the actors is spot on and articulation is great. My only complaint and this could be something I missed is the gun on the belt of Man in Black is not removable. I tried but I also didn’t want to break it either I assumed that it is because why else would he have gun holding hands. The figures handled play and posing well. Great Figures DST keep it up.
