JOE GIELLA, WORLD’S OLDEST LIVING BATMAN ARTIST CONFIRMED FOR ECC SAT MAY 16 ONLY

Joe likes going to a few Comic Cons a year because it gives him a chance to interact with fans. The drawings and prints that fans enjoy seeing and purchasing bring out many stories that answers their many questions. It is a time where the artist and fan can have a special moment. Joe is very appreciative of the great response he garners at the shows.

Joe liked inking Irv Novick, Jose Delbo among others. Their lines were clean and finished. Carmine Infantino was a Great layout man and his main mind set was to showcase a scene. As a result, Joe and Murphy Anderson and such would spend a little more time finishing inking to bring the illustration to it’s fullest potential.

Joe loves doing Watercolor Illustrations for collector requests and oil paint portraits as a hobby as well. He also enjoys the process of laying out a scene to be pen/Inked for various assignments.

Joe always liked to draw as a child and knew that was his desire in life to become an artist. He always liked comics for the action and fantasy which was also conveyed through story telling. Along the way the relationships he made and the talented people he worked with just added to a career that he has enjoyed so much.

Autograph collecting is a Spence family tradition that has been passed down through four generations. Following his grandfather and father, founder James Spence Jr. started out as an avid collector of sports memorabilia. Collecting autographs turned into a business as he traveled across the country attending major trade shows buying and selling memorabilia. His passion for autographs led him to extensive research and compiling an autograph exemplar library, which is second to none in the autograph industry today. James, Jr’s reputation within the autograph world caught the attention of major auction houses across the country, which then employed his authentication services for their upcoming auctions. Thirty years later James Spence has built a worldwide reputation as the premier autograph authenticator in the world.
