If you are into wild tales of wilder-than-usual occurrences, tailor-made to make you blink, well, buddy, have I got a comic book for you! Chained To The Grave, #1, is from IDW.

Writers Andy Eschenbach (Darth Vader, Thanos, Deadpool) and Brian Level delve into some really wacky and wonderful territory with this title:

Roy Mason, outlaw, has been shot. But some time after burial, he manages to pull himself up from the grave, smelling like heck, and drag himself home to his wife and kids. He’s still chained to his burial monument (“tombstone”). His wife is absolutely delighted to see him, and his family celebrates! The dialogue is rich in heavily accented southern US dialect. But golly, the fun is just beginning!!

Artist Kate Sherron (Invader Zim, The Amazing World of Gumball) infects this tall and mouldy tale with thick, heavy jagged lines, big pure buckets of colour and absolutely screamingly amazing caricatures and characters. It’s delightful, disgusting and utterly bewildering.

Fans of MAD magazine, Plop, Cracked, SNL, EC horror, please take the time to check out this monstrously amusing and astonishing new title!

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
