Neal Adam’s iconic Superman image becomes an amazing statue.

There are some images of Superman that will always be ionic. His first appearance when he’s picking up a car and smashing from Action Comics #1. Him leaping over buildings in Superman #1. And of course, Superman #233 where he’s breaking Kryptonite chains.

You have seen the cover and may not even realize it.  It’s been used in a lot of other merchandising, but here’s that famous cover, in case you don’t remember:

This piece was drawn by comic artist legend Neal Adams. It was the start of the “Kryptonite Nevermore” where all the Kryptonite on Earth became non-lethal to Superman. While the storyline is good, it’s the cover of Superman#233 that will always stand out.

DC Collectible when ahead and created an amazing statue based on this iconic cover.

Sculpted by Jonathan Matthews, it truly captures perfectly Adams’ artwork in 3D form. Matthews really did an incredible job with all the details. Not just the face, but even little things like Superman’s abs and the folds in the costume and cape.

The statue comes in two pieces. Superman and a base he stands on. I had no problems putting him on the base. What’s also cool is the Kryptonite chains actually glow in the dark a little. It’s little pops like that, that truly make this statue amazing. The paint apps are flawless on this statue. I saw no paint slop, and all the colors just pop on here.

This is a must buy for any Superman fan or comic fan. I always love seeing comic panels come to live. It’s usually hit or miss, but with this statue, it’s definitely a hit!

Many thanks to DC Collectibles for allowing me to check this statue out. Just so amazing.

  1. I bought this statue and it’s awesome – one of the best I’ve seen from DC Collectibles.

The glow-in-the-dark effect on the chains is very faint. Don’t buy it expecting a strong green glow.
