Ninjak has never had much luck with the ladies, especially his long believed to be deceased lover who’s been brought back from the dead to kill him. That former lover, Roku has been given a task by the Undead Monk to assemble a kill squad known as the Shadow Seven to destroy Ninjak and MI-6. She’s gonna break into the Stygia prison complex to break out her recruits and it won’t be pretty.
What is The Undead Monk’s plan for the Shadow Seven? What does Roku have planned? And what is Ninjak gonna do about it? It goes far beyond getting a paycheck, that’s for sure.
The story is written with a steady pace that’s easy to follow and read. Even with the characters involved, the reader will still be kept up to speed so they can never get lost when reading. Matt Kindt continues to write Ninjak with cinematic flair and action that every page flows as once scene to another easily. Mark Laming’s pencil work is very clean yet stylistic in terms of showing clear panel and page layout. The action illustrated is easy to follow and well handled. From drawing the Stygia prison complex to Roku stirring up a slaughter throughout, Laming’s manages to give clear entertainment throughout. The color handling by Aareolla is executed well, there is something very glaring about the red that really catches the readers eye whenever Roku’s red-clad self is dashing through the scenes. Sharpe’s lettering and word balloon placement is well placed, never crowding the art, yet still providing balanced dialogue. Definitely a good, entertaining read.
