Deathwing is his name, and he’s here to make sure that there is only one Nightwing worthy enough to lurk the streets of Bludhaven. Nightwing is gonna have his hands full in the 2nd chapter of Nightwing Must Die arc.

Will Nightwing and Damian set aside their differences and find Shawn? Or will she suffer a terrible fate at the hands of Deathwing?

Tim Seeley understands how Nightwing thinks and clicks. In this issue, he makes a lot of great character moments between Damian and Grayson. He even calls upon events that happened during Grant Morrison’s tenure on Batman and Robin a few years back. What makes this issue stand out is Grayson mentally weighing his responsibility as a potential parent, and a surrogate figure aside from being a crime fighter. Seeley makes great use of Deathwing and his motivations are interesting while murky at best. Hopefully, we’ll see more.of Deathwing down the road since he makes an interesting foil to Nightwing. I think what will surprise most people, especially if they loved Grayson’s time when he was temporarily Batman, they’ll be in for a surprise return from a certain villain from that era.  Overall, Seeley makes great effort to acknowledge Grayson’s history as a crime fighter and makes great distinctions between Grayson and his ol mentor.

Javier Fernandez continues to dazzle with the artwork in this issue. There are some really good pages, but some of my favorite standout pages are during a battle where Nightwing has a peak to a more wider spectrum of all the paths that run parallel to his. I made that a bit cryptic just to avoid spoilers. Overall, his artwork is great, especially when it’s just the one on one conversations with Damian or their fight with Deathwing. The art along with the inkers, colorists, and letterer all do a solid job with this issue. Overall this is another solid installment in this arc thus far. Definitely, check this series out. It’s one of the solid Bat-related titles that has some personality is definitely worth checking out.
