The Often Wrong, a collection of work by Farel Dalrymple, is one of those ‘soup to nuts’ books. It’s from Image Comics, and is a mesmerizing assembly.

It contains page after page of drawings, with short stories, character sketches, doodles, and variant covers.

Unlike typical creator collections, this volume leans heavier on the unconnected random sketch. Many seem to be previously unpublished, which is a treat. The subject matter swerves from ballpoint pen drawings of cats. to dwarves, The Wrenchies, interplanetary adventure, alternative living types, and insects. It’s a delicious, bewildering meander inside the mystifying mind of Mister Dalrymple!

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
