Here we are, in Vietnam. Ernie Nez’s new assignment is getting grizzlier. Apache Delivery Service #3 from Dark Horse smartly marches us along the dramatic highway at a hellish clip.
Ernie Nez’s a tracker from the US, and his new ‘companion’, Sobrat, seems obsessed with finding a legendary gold cache. Plenty of cash to be found, apparently, and as it develops, plenty of blood money. Matt Kindt’s story has loads of hidden boobytraps and surprises for the reader. Tyler Jenkins’ (colours by Hilary Jenkins) loosely rendered soldiers, soldiers of misfortune, and the Vietnamese all mill around, in and out of shadows, keeping their cards close to their bleeding hearts.
It’s war, it’s outrageously cold and combative, it’s a very quickly read issue that flows with rivers of resentment, all sweaty and tense.
