Ether sees us join scientist Boone Dias on his research trips to the magical realm of Ether.
He is already a regular visitor and has built up a rapport with the inhabitants particularly Glum the gatekeeper who seems to enjoy antagonizing him at every opportunity. This trip, however, is destined to be different. The mayor of Agartha (Ethers Capital city) wants to see Boone and needs his help. It turns out that Boone is quite the Detective and has already made a name for himself by solving a few high profile cases and this may just top the lot in terms of importance.
With magic bullets (creepy fetal-looking bullet) and seemingly unsolvable Boone and Glum head to the library to research which is curated by Boone’s apparent nemesis whom he knows is guilty of lots but can’t prove anything much to Glum’s disapproval. Boone can only spend a small amount of time in Ether and soon has to be sent home which in this case is Venice.
The discovery of Ether and Boones initial travels look like they will be covered in flashbacks which is pretty cool as it lets you get new exciting adventures with all the rapport the characters have built up together and also the origins at the same time.
Really good new comic and a brilliant new idea contrasting a heavy dose of skepticism and science in a setting surrounded by magic I also love the anatomical notes in the back of one of the creatures he encounters and hope there are more to come
