Wow, Ether went dark quick this issue! Boone is more dedicated than I ever thought in his exploration of the Ether!
How he travels through the portal is intense only to get there and be booted up the arse by Glum every. single. time. He can’t eat while there and can only stay for short periods of time before doing it all over again like I said dedicated!
We are treated to a little history lesson about the legend of the blaze and shines a light on why it is so important to find her killer. Boone meanwhile has managed to scientifically deconstruct the magic bullet that killed her, determined to find a rational scientific reason behind everything in the Ether Boone is not fazed by anything until a killer appears and exterminates his one lead right in front of him!
The flashback shows us Boones first encounter with the portal and how excited he was to be involved. Right at the end is a page that is quickly becoming my favourite thing to see, a detailed drawing of the kind of stuff you can buy at the market with a heavy blend of magic and science that makes it so unique.
I love the way this is written with Boone surrounded by the impossible but still remaining scientific and not letting the weirdness around him phase him in the slightest
