I’ve had a few hangovers from hell in my time but Constantine takes it to a whole nother level!!
John wakes up to the worst possible scenario to find with a hangover, a body reduced to soup splattered all over him! He is trying to explain himself to Detective Chief Inspector Ames (who he obviously has a history with) about his night to hopefully prove his innocence but possibly because she knows him she’s finding it difficult to believe him.
Back to the night in question, after failing to entice the detective in for a drink John decides to make his own entertainment for the evening in the form of a couple at the bar who show him attention and he thinks that he can sleep with the girl. His plan goes awry as another ‘friend’ shows up and the couple falls back into themselves and forget about anyone else. John and Martin bond over a few drinks and Martin shares with John a very special bottle he has just discovered. Then it’s blackout. A few glimpses of drunken troubles and flashes of an argument with his landlord and it’s morning again with the landlord being the aforementioned soup that has landed Constantine in trouble.
It goes from weird to worse as Ames watches security footage of the landlord killing himself as Constantine recalls his dream which is play for play the suicide Ames is watching, is Constantines dreams playing out in real life??
John gets to the bottom of special drink he had but it only leads to more questions as it is definitely NOT the person he was drinking with so it’s obvious he has been set up!
We get a glimpse of who possibly set him up and it doesn’t look good for John if they are on his trail!!
