The time-traveling adventure for the truth continues in Booster Shot part 5!
Stuck and stranded in a New Krypton in a distant future, Superman and Booster Gold are stacked up against the son of Zod and an Eradicator. As they race to try to fend off their adversaries, save the enslaved inhabitants of New Krypton and fix their time machine to travel back to their proper time, a familiar unfriendly face appears. Meanwhile, Lois Lane and Jon find General Lane and attempt to rescue him.
Can Superman and Booster Gold save the people of New Krypton, defeat the heir of Zod and make it back to his proper time to save his family? Can Lois and Jon make it out in time to save themselves?
Jurgens seems to have a lot of fun with writing Booster Gold and Superman and it shows within this time-traveling adventure of an arc. Jurgens continues to make the main plot entertaining with Superman and Booster Gold while also making the subplot with Lois Lane and Jon’s (Superboy) rescue mission of General Lane just as interesting. My only minor nitpick with the issue is the continence of how many people Lois runs into. But then again, she was raised in the military and as a journalist has a large network, so I can’t poke at that convenience entirely. Overall there are plenty of great moments within the issue, especially seeing Superman go toe to toe against Zod’s son. Part of me wonders if Jurgens plans to bring in Christopher Kent AKA Nightwing from the Pre 52… But who knows?
Brett Booth’s artwork is stunning in this issue as he continues to bring his A game with fantastic panel work and double-page spreads that are a delight to look at. Every page continues to drive e plot of the story with energetic flair that sometimes I reread some pages just to look at the panel work and renderings that Booth and Co did. The inkers and colonists did a great job too I’m making this chapter of the arc come off the page as the most vibrant that this arc has ever been.
It’s continent to have this issue on your pull list but it makes a rest Valentine’s Day gift for the lover or Valentine of your life that is a Superman or Booster Gold fan. Pick it up!!
