From Valiant: the story before the story of Bloodshot: Bloodshot Rising Spirit #1!

With the tagline “Now, for the first time, witness the truth of who Bloodshot was… before he became a living weapon…” we know this will be an action drama!

Story is by Zac Thompson and Lonnie Nadler, Script by Kevin Grevioux, pencils by Ken Lashley and finishes by Ryan Winn and others. Colorist is Diego Rodriguez.

Briefly, this is the beginning of Bloodshot, a nanite-enhanced super soldier. And it all starts in Little Italy, New York in 2010. A young man wants to be ‘made’, so he is on a mission: do a hit. But things go wrong, and that’s an understatement. Before you know it, the young man’s body is being subject to some very serious scientific experimentation!

You can see where this is going already, of course; it’s not a subtle book. What you see is what you get: lots of fighting, nasty double-crosses, and the deep agony of violent interactions.

The dialogue is good, the artwork is dynamic, and the pace keeps up through this first issue. Let’s see what happens next in Bloodshot Rising Spirit! Awesome front cover!

About Alan Spinney

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
