New Series Writer Joined by DC Super Hero Girls Veteran Artist Yancey Labat for DC SUPER HERO GIRLS: AT METROPOLIS HIGH
New Installment of New York Times Best-Selling Series Hits Stores Everywhere Books Are Sold on October 15, 2019
DC announced today that the publisher will continue its critically acclaimed DC Super Hero Girls (DCSHG) graphic novel series with new stories told by animation and comics writer Amy Wolfram. Wolfram’s graphic novels will tell original stories starring Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl and many more popular DC characters set in the same universe as the new DC Super Hero Girls animated series created by Lauren Faust that will air Sundays at 4 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network beginning March 17, 2019.
Wolfram is best known for her work on such fan-favorite animated shows as Teen Titans Go!, and most recently contributed several episodes to the DCSHG animated shorts.
“I’m very excited to be working on DC Super Hero Girls,” stated Wolfram. “Not only do we get to see these iconic superheroes in action as they protect Metropolis, we also get to peek behind the masks and capes to see their secret identities as they deal with an even greater challenge–being a teenager in high school!”
Joining Wolfram for the first installment is longtime DCSHG artist Yancey Labat.
“I’m so excited to work with Amy on this new series,” explained Labat. “The new look is fun to draw. The characters are very expressive and over-the-top, and I love the zaniness and looseness of the designs.”
The first book, DC SUPER HERO GIRLS: AT METROPOLIS HIGH, will follow Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Green Lantern, Bumblebee and Zatanna as they try to balance their superhero duties with their extracurricular activities.
The DCSHG graphic novels will be published under DC’s new middle grade publishing imprint, DC Zoom. For complete details on the upcoming AT METROPOLIS HIGH graphic novel, see below:
DC SUPER HERO GIRLS: AT METROPOLIS HIGH
A new era of DC Super Hero Girls begins in the upcoming original graphic novel DC SUPER HERO GIRLS: AT METROPOLIS HIGH! When Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Green Lantern, Bumblebee and Zatanna are continually late to class because of their crime-fighting, they are told to find an after-school club for a whole week or else be suspended. But finding a club is not as easy as it looks, and when the girls keep finding themselves kicked out of the clubs, they must think outside of the box and go out of their comfort zones to avoid suspension. Just when they thought balancing school with secret identities and super-heroing had enough challenges.
