Comic Review: Calamity Kate #2 (Dark Horse Comics)

Monsters better look out as Kate is angry and on the warpath!

New girl Javelin is making an impact but at Kates expense and she is NOT HAPPY!! Kate is determined that her new destiny is to slay all 7 fabled beasts and now she has competition in Javelin which is taking her focus and nearly getting her killed. I think in other circumstances they could be friends or more as they are very similar but just need to get out of each other way first.

I absolutely love the artwork in this, the monsters look amazing but two scenes really jumped out at me as something even more special, the first was the classic movie sequence of dragging the blade along the ground before pouncing on the baddie, it looks incredible here and you can almost hear the blade scrape the floor. And the second is the look on wee Jades face as she prepares to tackle the injustice that her friend committed against her, no words needed as she loads the pistol not even eyes to see but the emotion is palpable, awesome.

I can’t wait to see what’s next and if Kate and Javelin continue to fight or if they team up to be the absolute best monster slaying team!
