What happens when Uncle Scrooge becomes the victim to some hypnotic commands from Magica? From IDW, Uncle Scrooge #46 brings us The Cursed Cell Phone.

Originally appearing in the Italian Topolino, this full-length tale is written by Carlo Gentina, with art by Stefano Intini, and is translated into English by Erin Brady. It’s newly published here for the first time in the US.

The story has some fun and wacky moments, and the artwork is charmingly exaggerated. I’m quite amused throughout my reading of this issue to stop and admire the goings on in the backgrounds of the comic panels; the ‘support’ characters are doing some grand gestures, the neighbourhoods are fascinating. All good!

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
