What an issue! This is the start of what we have been waiting for The City Of Bane!
The very first panel is just perfection! So simplistic but so effective, it’s beautiful. Bane has thought of everything it’s like a parallel universe if the bad guys were the good guys. The Riddler and The Joker are now the top-notch detectives hunting down the killers and what a duo they make but when even they can’t manage they call in evil batman. The whole thing is surreal its exactly how it would go down except with different characters playing it out and a much more volatile outcome.
Gotham Girl is a brilliant sidekick she has the banter of Robin and the constant narration as she thinks out loud and basically debates with herself while fighting is hilarious but shows just how powerful she is if she can so calmly deal with her opponents. It says a lot about Banes character that he can elicit blind loyalty from that strong a person.
The return that EVERYONE has been waiting for is handled well too, no major fanfare just an understated elegance befitting the character I loved it and hopefully, it marks a solid turning point in Batman’s mind where he can then build from before taking on Bane and reclaiming Gotham City!
