The war between the birds and the pigs continues on. It has become an everyday fact of life. Especially on Bird Island where they use slingshots to get around town. Red (Jason Sudeikis) is seen as the island’s great hero and with his friends Chuck (Josh Gad) and Bomb (Danny McBride) they keep the pigs at bay.Meanwhile, on a third island, Eagle Island, ruler Zeta (Leslie Jones) is tired of living on an island where it’s winter all the time. She attacks both Bird Island and Pig Island in an attempt to get the inhabitants to vacate their warm island, so the eagles can take over. The ruler of Pig Island Leonard (Bill Hader) realizes that he can’t stop Zeta alone and tries to call a truce with Red. Will Red put aside his personal feeling and save the island?
I am a big fan of the first Angry Birds movie, but this sequel just takes it to a whole other level. I swear the comedy here was Looney Tunes level. I was laughing so hard. This is a great family film. There are jokes that will go over your kid’s heads. To me, that’s a good thing.
The plot moves at a great pace, especially to keep the little ones engaged. It starts with a bang and just keeps going. Peter Ackerman, Eyal Podell, and Jonathon E. Stewart seriously just works. Just lots of fun.
While the cast is just spot on the ones that really steal the show are 3 little birds known as the Hatchlings. Their subplot in the film is so funny and entertaining. They are voiced by Brooklynn Prince (Zoe), Genesis Tennon (Vivi), and Sam-Sam (Alma Varsano), who all do a great job with these cute baby birds.
Sequels are usually hit or miss, but The Angry Birds Movie 2 is definitely a hit!
The Angry Birds Movie 2 open on Wednesday, August 14th.
