IDW has released another in its line of Artisan Editions, where an artist’s original comic art is scanned and reprinted at high resolution. This time around, it’s Marvel artist Jack Kirby and his Fantastic Four stories from the 1960s.

This 168-page edition includes crystal clear reproduction of Kirby’s original black and white line drawings, including the lettering, for a run of Fantastic Four issues: #71, #82, #83, and #84, plus the 48-page Fantastic Four Annual #6.

It’s Krackling good, and so exciting to see Jack’s work without the limitations of 1960’s colour or newprint printing.

There’s a foreword by (later, post-Kirby) Fantastic Four artist John Byrne, and a gallery of several bonus pages to boot!

IDW Marvel, Jack Kirby’s Fantastic Four Artisan Edition, 168 pages for $39.99

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
