This comic is interesting, alright. Writer Ricky Mammone starts off the issue with our lead character named Leblanc. He’s the young professional who can arrange for a client to restart their life. He makes their current identity disappear, and then so do they. For now. As we proceed in this direction, the story swings in a wild direction, with the introduction of another story stream: it’s about other characters on an intersect. It’s a device we see more often in TV and books than in comics. And it’s done very effectively here.

Italian artist Max Bertolini (The Witcher, Nathan Never) does an amazing job on the visuals. The black and white (yes) artwork is heavily textured, with patterned backgrounds, plenty of speed lines, and deep attention to wardrobe, facial features, passing cars. This strong visual approach with such a high density of story information all combines to give us a multi-layered ‘exotic’ feel. It’s magic, it’s menacing, dark, and mysterious. Letters by DC Hopkins.

Can’t wait to see how this story develops, to follow its footpath to crazyland, its sudden pivots to strange lands and exotic people.

After a career of graphic design, art direction and copywriting, I still have a passion for words and pictures. I love it when a comic book comes together; the story is tight, and the drawings lead me forward. Art with words... the toughest storytelling technique to get right. Was this comic book worth your money? Let's see!!
