Sonic speeds into his second fun-filled, adventurous film.

In the first film, Sonic defeated Doctor Robotnik and left him stranded on a planet filled with mushrooms. Robotnik is eventually able to escape the planet with his new ally Knuckles. The two team up to defeat Sonic and find out the location of the Master Emerald. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Sonic attempts to help the public as a vigilante with little success. He is soon attacked by Knuckles and Robotnik, but is saved by Tails, a twin-tailed flying fox. Now it’s a race to see who can get to the Master Emerald first.

I really liked the first film and thought this sequel was just as soon. Director Jeff Fowler did a great job on the first Sonic and does a great job with the second as well. This was a fun, action-packed, family film. It has nice pacing to it and really keeps your attention from beginning to end.

Ben Schwartz once again voices Sonic and really does a good job with the character. You see a lot of emotional growth in the character here.

Idris Elba voices Knuckles and he does it with such menace in his voice, and yet comes across as a fish out of water when he comes to Earth. But Elba was the perfect choice.

Colleen O’Shaughnessey voices Tails. You might not be familiar with O’Shaughnessey, but she has been voicing the character of Tails in video games since 2010. She has the character down pat.

Like the last film, Jim Carey truly steals the film as Doctor Robotnik. He knows when to go over the top and when to keep it subtle. Just so entertaining for this film.

The effect were top-notch. Yes, you can tell the main characters are out of place in the real world, but as long as you have some suspension of disbelief, you will be able to enjoy it.

Now in no way is this film is Oscar-worthy, but it’s a fun film you can enjoy with your whole family.
