Issue 4 of Promethee 1313 from Ablaze Comics takes more twists and turns. And if you turn your head too slow, you miss something in this tightly constructed space saga.
The Atlantis crew is at loggerheads, violently “disagreeing to disagree” while Cade, Henry, and Darla are staring daggers and bouncing stray bullets at each other. You see, she was abducted by aliens. And the crew of the drifting Atlantis pulled off course, are confused about who or what is altering their trajectory.
It’s fascinating, but you need to strap in fast and pay attention.
Where I sometimes complain that writers expend too much scenery and time in over-explanation? In contrast, Promethee 1313 is a screaming siren, whistling past the silence of the graveyard of space, with writer Andy Diggle pouring out the concepts, unlocking tension, and reloading the word balloons.
Strong visceral artwork by Shawn Martinbrough with great use of lights and darks in the panel compositions. Colour by Dave Stewart
