“ That’s what happens when you try to make something.. You want to make it perfect. But everything you do is just a betrayal of your hopes for the thing. Stuff comes out wrong.”

Synopsis: It’s a race against time as Art and the rest of his team follow a lead on the next criminal act of the Smiling Assailant, especially when a child with potential is held hostage and missing! The only way that Art will find the answers he seeks, is by visiting an old friend that lives in a classic Edvard Munch painting. Will the answers they find be worth screaming for?

Prince engages head-on as the case continues to spiral for Art, Manny the Mannequin, and Chief Margot as they trail behind the culprit responsible for the trail of artistic destruction left behind. As readers get more insight on Art and how his mind works within the art scapes that he inhabits, readers also get to see the consequences of such feats as others begin to suffer from such experiences in their own intermediate relationships. The antagonist continues to be a wacky character that is as terrifying as he is entertaining for various reasons that personify all the best and worst parts of pop art. There are tons of moving parts, yet prince finds ways of snapping the pieces together, providing a cohesive narrative that is thrilling to pursue as a reader.

Martin Morrazzo continues to display his skills as a mind-bending illustrator as the characters drawn run wild across the pages. Across the layouts, the characters and environments are convincing in their character acting. Morrazzo’s art while great is embellished even further with Mat Lopes’s emotionally expressive color work, and Good Old Neon’s lettering, making this a perfectly balanced comic that is enjoyable to read as it is to look at. This book stands out as something different that is worth adding to your pull list for new comic book day.
