As Sprout continues her revenge quest against Dillinger, planting traps for his squad of criminals, Sprout, Serena, and their bunny, Beatrix are put in a corner with nothing but their skills and wits to survive. But will that be enough to win against the hordes of Dillinger’s thugs? Who is gonna come out alive?

Doug Wagner writes a brutally action-packed, yet heartwrenching issue as Sprout and company fight their way towards survival against the many assailants that are tasked to kill them. Wagner does a fantastic job at conveying a lot about a protagonist who has little to no dialogue, yet expresses a range of emotion throughout this book as more revelations about Sprout’s past comes to light. Witnessing Serena’s horror to the tide of bloodshed that awaits her and Sprout adds to the many stakes that are presented and perfectly executed in this book. Readers are left unsure with what awaits them with every page turn, and this issue is no exception. It’s amazing how Wagner can display viciousness and vulnerability within the character of Sprout, making her a compelling character worth following as she affects the lives of those around her.

Doug Dabbs is a fantastic illustrator that does a great job illustrating different kinds of stylistic characters. What really makes this book shine is the character acting that is illustrated by Dabbs, who balances ballistic carnage with emotional moments that are simultaneously heart-wrenching and beautiful. Nicole Dabbs does an excellent job lettering the book, placing narration and dialogue appropriately in accompaniment to the art, and Erika Schnatz design work on the book exudes the bright and kinetic. This is another solid installment in Wagner’s revenge tale and is worth adding to your pull list for new comic book day.
