The 2nd issue of Godzilla: War for Humanity was a fun read that delivered more monster battles than the last issue while putting a spotlight on underappreciated kaiju like Angirirus and MOGUERA. This issue did a good job showing more of what Angiruius is capable of and that although he has never won kaiju fights, Angirius never back down easily.
Zoospora feels inspired by Biolante in terms of appearance and powers but I wonder if it’s intentional or if there is any true connection at all. However, this kaiju is terrifying and the abilities it demonstrated in this issue are worth a look. Zoospora’s existence is Earth’s answer to years of human neglect and it intends to purge humanity like the virus it believes them to be. It is designed to be a destructive force of nature and a bearer of the end.
Zoospora’s goal to end humanity reflects the environmentalist theme of this story and is a stern reminder to protect and clean the earth we live in. The colorful vibrant artwork fits the theme of the story and I like that it captures both serious and funny moments without feeling out of place.
I look forward to what the next issue brings!
