This issue was the fantastic bloody (pun intended) start to a crossover I’ve dreamed of for years. I grew up watching the Predator franchise so when I heard one of the most ruthless alien species in fiction was going up against one of the most brutal characters in comic book history, I expected a gore fest and that’s exactly what I got, but on a different intensity I had expected.

The story is off to a great start because it already used all the familiar tropes and cliches associated with both characters with respect. The issue starts in the woods, a trademark territory for both characters and that told me this story was being written by someone that knows their stuff.

The gore delivered, but not in the intensity I expected. Humans and animals were skinned, decapitated limbs, and nasty exposed wounds, and Wolverine’s ruthlessness was properly depicted but it didn’t match the raw intensity I’d usually see in a Predator story. It’s the first issue, but I hope for more blood splatter and extreme flesh-tearing in the next!
