Having escaped the Syndicate, Tatsuo and Kevin pair up to search for Nadia before she falls into the Syndicate’s clutches.
Upon review, this was a very fast read due to the good pacing of the plot, dialogue, and tension as Tetsuo and Kevin embark on finding Nadia. Of the characters that shined the most in this issue, Kevin rightfully gains the spotlight with human moments that add more to his robotic character. The dialogue between Tetsuo and Kevin as they confront each other about their dilemmas that occurred on their journey is bittersweet, creating concern for the cast and what is to come. Tetsuo’s external conflict at attempting to find Nadia while staring down the barrel of his own rapidly fading mortality is thrilling given how much he and the rest have grown. Rory McConville and Declan Shalvey have a knack for balancing all of the moving parts within this series and within this issue, as all of the characters involved from the core cast, and others all converge closer to their end goal.
The art team consisting of Geoffo as the illustrator of this arc, Chris O’Halloran as the colorist, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou as letterer all deliver in their respective parts, making for an enriching read. The expressions between characters, the compositions of panels, embellishment of colors, dynamic and emotive gestures, sound and dialogue placement are thoughtfully executed in this issue. Readers can feel the weight of Tetsuo, Kevin and Nadia’s journey through the art displayed, making the ride all the more emotive. This is another solid issue as the series inches closer to its conclusion, and one worth catching up on and picking up for New Comic Book Day.
