Offerings for Industry Professionals to Include Panels, Interactive Programming, Free Giveaways, Private Signings, and More
ReedPop, the world’s leading producer of pop culture events, today announced they will be adding an exciting lineup of professional programming to this year’s New York Comic Con. Set to take place on Wednesday, October 16, this marks the first year that ReedPop will be extending its content into Wednesday, just ahead of opening day for the convention. NYCC returns to the Javits Center in New York City on October 17-20, 2024.
On Wednesday, October 16 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, comic book retailers, industry professionals, and sponsors of NYCC will be able to participate in a closed event full of panels, interactive programming, free swag, and private signings in the Javits Center’s River Pavilion before NYCC fully opens on Thursday, October 17. Programming will be offered by ComicsPro, Lunar, Tiny Onion, and more, covering a wide range of topics including Get Your Shop on the News: PR Basics, Working With Schools and Libraries, and Speed Networking with Comic Book Retailers.
Retailers will be able to snag exclusive comics like The Department of Truth #25 NYCC Retailer Exclusive by Rosemary Valero-O’Connell, and private signings with creators will also be available. There will be even more excitement with professional comic book centric programming continuing on later in the week with an ICv2 white page presentation, and an Industry Mixer sponsored by Comic Sketch Art on Thursday, October 17 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The mixer will be open to all Professionals, Artist Alley, Publisher, and Retailer Comics Pro badge holders, and will have free swag giveaways by Tiny Onion. Additionally, The Harvey Awards, one of the comic industry’s oldest and most prestigious awards, which recognizes outstanding achievement in multiple categories, will be held on Friday, October 18.
Additional professional partnerships at NYCC include robust programming with professional development for librarians and educators, including curated panels that feature teachers, scholars, and creators. Participants are invited to join Manga In Libraries who will host a “Day of Manga” showing how to integrate Manga into the Public Library systems. The CLE, representing Clients in Comic Book Publishing, will present an accredited course from the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education, while the NYC Depart of Education, in tandem with Lit-X, a community of educators who are redefining the classroom experience by integrating modern texts and innovative teaching methods with Comics, Gaming and Improv, will also offer accredited programming.
“The industry professionals who participate in New York Comic Con each year are a cornerstone in making the event what it is today,” said Kristina Rogers, VP of ReedPop US Comics Portfolio. “By extending our programming to Wednesday for the first time this year, we are able to build out offerings that bring more value to our incredible professional partners.”
For comic book retailer professionals looking to attend the closed event on Wednesday, October 16, free Wednesday and Thursday Pro tickets to the event will be given, automatically, and professionals are pre-approved to purchase a Pro 4-Day ticket. Signups are required if you are a retailer through Lunar Distribution.
