The Industry Veteran Previously Served as Publisher of IDW Publishing
Today Skybound Entertainment, the creator-led, multiplatform entertainment company behind mega hit franchises Invincible, The Walking Dead, and Impact Winter, announced the hiring of comic book industry veteran Nachie Marsham as Senior Editor.
Marsham’s hiring underscores Skybound’s commitment to growing its editorial output and is Skybound’s fourth strategic executive hire this year in the Editorial division, joining recent hires Ben Abernathy (Executive Editor), Blake Kobashigawa (Senior Director, Business Development), and Alex Hargett (Director, Brand, Editorial).
As Senior Editor, Nachie will manage Skybound’s partnership with LEGO Books, as well as develop a new slate of original comics. Prior to joining Skybound, he served as Publisher of IDW Publishing, was Executive Editor at Disney Publishing Worldwide, where he led the Marvel Press imprint, and worked in various editorial roles at DC Comics.
“Nachie Marsham adds an incredible amount of experience and passion to Skybound, and he’s already working to grow our original and licensed comic programs in new directions,” said Sean Mackiewicz, SVP, Publisher. “Our editorial team is the best in the business, and we remain committed to delivering the most exciting, emotionally charged comics in the marketplace, week after week.”
“It’s fantastic to be joining Skybound’s editorial team and coming on board to work on such a kaleidoscopic array of titles,” said Marsham. “It’s great to be with a company with such an amazing history, a murderer’s row of a backlist, an award-winning juggernaut of a front list, and a burning desire to keep pushing comics storytelling forward.”
Skybound has garnered massive success with its comics in recent years especially, with much of that represented by key licensing partnerships. With leading toy and game company Hasbro, Skybound launched the Energon Universe, which has nabbed the company two Eisner Awards for Daniel Warren Johnson’s TRANSFORMERS, and revitalized Larry Hama’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. With Universal Products & Experiences, Skybound has seen chart-topping sales with its Universal Monsters line. Skybound just launched the third volume of its Eisner Award nominated Creepshow anthology, based on Greg Nicotero’s hit Shudder TV series produced and licensed by Cartel Entertainment.
Skybound also maintains the robust adaptation of original comics IP, with the hit adult animated series Invincible renewed through season 4 on Prime Video and continued expansion of The Walking Dead universe onscreen. Skybound original Heart Attack is currently being adapted into a live-action anime television series with Japanese network Fuji TV. Gasolina, another Eisner Award nominated series from Skybound, is in production on an audio drama series from Audible. The company continues to announce key licensing, content, and product partnerships across video games, film, tv, audio, merchandise, and tabletop games, in addition to its comics slate, published by Image Comics.
