Stray Dogs is a one-of-a-kind blend of horror, mystery, and funny animal cuteness created by by Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner that initially dug its claws into the hearts of readers in 2021. The series follows Sophie, a dog who can’t remember what happened. She doesn’t know how she ended up in this house. She doesn’t recognize any of these other dogs. She knows something terrible happened but she just… can’t… recall… Wait! Where’s her lady? Now Sophie has to figure out where she is, what’s happening and how she’s going to survive this. The adventures of Sophie and her quickly developing cast of beloved characters unfolds in the original series, the “Dog Days” anthology series, and beyond.
“Trish and the team at Dynamite have worked tirelessly to make these cute little guys as heartbreakingly adorable in plush as they were in the original comics,” said creator Tony Fleecs. “Fans of Stray Dogs will not be disappointed!”
Trish Forstner added, “I have been excited for the idea of making plush toys of these amazing characters for a long time! I’m so excited to finally be able to show these first few off and hope through the campaign’s success, that we’ll be able to make more. I’ve meticulously included a lot of wonderful details so that these characters look and translate well into their little plush forms.”
The franchise has been compared to such unique and diverse influences as Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, the masterful suspense of Alfred Hitchcock, seen through the lens of a classic Don Bluth-like animated art style.
These three limited-edition plush figures are between 6” and 9” tall and will include Sophie, a yellow Papillon who is the main character of the story, Rusty, a brown Shepherd mix, and Victor, a three-legged Dalmatian. There will also be versions that come with an exclusive trading card only available with the plush. Fleecs and Forstner are personally overseeing the exact designs of the plush and have been meticulously hands-on with the project, to ensure the utmost accuracy and quality for their most hardcore fans.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Paramount Animation picked up the rights to Stray Dogs with Gary Dauberman (Annabelle, It) on board to produce.
Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner are also known for their work on comic book titles such as Army of Darkness Forever, Local Man, My Little Pony, and many others.
