At WEBTOON, Creators always come first. Everything we build on CANVAS is shaped by a simple goal: making it easier for Creators to build sustainable, flexible careers on their own terms. That means opening up more ways to earn and offering payment options that work for different needs.
Today we’re proud to share a number of CANVAS monetization updates that lower payout thresholds, simplify when and how payments are sent, and expand Reward Ads. Together, these changes can help Creators earn more, simplify access to their earnings, and give them more control over how they monetize their work.
Whether you’re earning through Ad Revenue Sharing, Reward Ads, or a mix of both, these changes make it easier to monetize and manage your earnings, so you can spend less time worrying about payouts and more time doing what you do best: creating.
WEBTOON CANVAS Monetization Programs & Payment Updates
A thank you to all the Creators participating in the Ad Revenue Sharing Program. Your creativity, consistency, and engagement are what power CANVAS, and we’re proud to offer a platform to reach audiences all over the world.
These latest updates focus on:
- Helping Creators get paid more frequently
- Lowering payout restrictions
- Making it easier to access your full balance
- Expanding revenue opportunities through Reward Ads
PayPal ID: Get Paid More Frequently with a Lower Threshold
To give Creators quicker access to their earnings, we’ve made significant improvements for those using PayPal ID as their payment method.
What’s new:
- Lower minimum payout threshold: reduced to $25 from the previous $100 minimum, meaning Creators receive payments after just $25 in earnings
- Incremental payout limits removed for the Ad Revenue Sharing Program
Once your balance reaches $25, your entire balance will be paid out. No waiting to hit a $100 increment. This helps smaller or growing series access earnings sooner, giving Creators more flexibility and predictability in earnings and cash flow.
Example: If your balance is $30, you’ll receive the full $30.
This update is especially helpful for Creators who rely on more frequent payouts or who are steadily growing their audience and revenue over time.
Patreon ID: Simplified Full-Balance Payouts
For Creators using Patreon ID, we’ve also streamlined how payments are issued.
What’s changed:
- The $100 payout increment has been removed for the Ad Revenue Sharing Program (also available for Super Like)
Once a Creator reaches the $100 minimum, their entire balance will be paid out with no partial payments or leftover amounts waiting for the next cycle. This makes earnings easier to track and receive. The minimum payout threshold remains $100 for Creators registered with a Patreon ID.
Example: If your balance is $120, you’ll receive the full $120.
Please note: Balances for each monetization program (i.e. Ad Revenue Sharing and Super Like) are paid separately.
Creators who prefer easier payouts and a lower threshold can update their payment method to PayPal ID. How to update your payment method:
- Go to the ‘Ad Sharing’ or ‘Super Like’ tab in your Creator Dashboard
- Select ‘Edit Payment Information’
Please note: Any updates to payment methods must be completed by the 20th of each month. Creators will not be able to modify Payment Information from the 21st until the end of each month.
If a payment method update is not completed by the 20th, the payment will shift to the next payment cycle. Once the updated payment method is successfully reflected on your dashboard, the payment will be processed using the new method starting from the next eligible cycle.
Reward Ads Update: More Episodes, More Earning Potential
We’re also expanding Reward Ads to give eligible Creators even more monetization flexibility!
What’s new:
Creators in the Ad Revenue Sharing Program who have access to Reward Ads can now lock up to six episodes behind an ad (an increase from three episodes previously). This update will be available starting Jan. 13, 2026.
Reward Ads allow fans to support a Creator’s series by watching a short video ad to unlock episodes. By increasing the number of episodes a Creator can place behind Reward Ads, they have more opportunities to:
- Generate revenue from highly engaged readers
- Monetize new episodes
- Experiment with release strategies that balance access and earnings
More Reward Ad options equal more ways for an audience to support the creator’s work.
Stay tuned! More Reward Ads updates are coming later this year.
