Top Characters & Creators’ Newest Epics in Multiple Formats

Dynamite’s continued partnership with Disney in comics and collectibles announces an exciting new program for fans of the beloved company’s most villainous characters in a brand-new Kickstarter that is now live!
Over the past several years, storylines starring some of the biggest stars from the Disney Villains franchise like Scar, Maleficent, Cruella, and Hades have been featured in all-new stories exclusive to the pages of comics. Now, in a new Kickstarter campaign, fans of all ages can pick and choose from collected volumes of these bestsellers, bundle up their own custom haul, and opt for special editions and extras.
These four Disney Villains comic stories originally serialized as periodicals starting in 2023 kicked off with Scar. This book is particularly front and center for this campaign, as it will be the first time the story is being collected into a complete graphic novel. Backers of this world premiere edition will be the first to receive it together in one book. The Eisner and Ringo Award-winning author Chuck Brown teamed up with artist Trevor Fraley for this as a dream project for both. The Bitter Root writer crafted a story full of fire and fury, showcasing an enraged Scar, masterfully weaving between the original masterpiece film The Lion King by offering an unseen perspective on Mufasa and Simba’s troubled relative. The mysterious shaman Rafiki is also prominently featured in this story. It’s all brought to the page with the energetic artwork of Fraley.
Disney Villains: Maleficent is a tour de force for the multi-talented creator Soo Lee. Known for her work on books like Carmilla: The First Vampire, Lee contributes both writing and art to Maleficent, showing off her stunning vision of the Forbidden Woods shrouded in darkness and steeped in evil. But as many Disney fans know, the dark queen hides much more to her story. With many pages sparing with their script, Lee’s luscious artwork stuns on every page as a remarkable look at one of Disney’s most complex characters.
Next up is one of the most beloved of the Disney Renaissance villains, as comedy mastermind scribe Elliott Kalan and Italian artist Alessandro Ranaldi took on the task of Hades! Inspired by classic Greek mythology, the Lord of the Underworld assembles a team to embark on a quest of his own. With all the trademark touches from the film Hercules, this is a perfect match for fans. Kalan also went on to take on the daring demigod himself in another series, which fans can seek out.
The third volume is packed full of goodies that no Darkwing diehard can do without! It’s a thrilling tour of the comics history of Drake Mallard. It kicks off with the hero’s first-ever comics appearance, the four-issue series from 1991 originally released by the Disney Comics line. Also included from this earlier era are stories from the Disney Afternoon magazine originally published by Marvel.
Last but certainly not least, the initial crop of Dynamite’s Disney Villains titles came with Cruella De Vil strutting down the runway. The astonishingly talented duo of Sweeney Boo and Miriana Puglia chronicle the infamous fashionista taking on an epic jewelry heist, all as a misguided attempt to restore her tarnished name in the tabloids!
All four instant-classic tales are available as either hardcovers or paperbacks individually. Hardcover editions signed by each title’s author are also on offer, or with a stunning original remarque sketch by fan-favorite Ken Haeser. Bundles offering the complete four book set offer fans an unbeatable discount on their haul.
