“My debut as a published author makes absolutely no sense. I went from coming up with terrible stories while playing with toys as a kid, to writing terrible fan fiction as a teenager, to slowly losing that part of me as I pursued my career as a therapist. I took the “mature,” “responsible” path, and I thought I’d closed that other door forever,” says creator Ben Harel. “One day I made an impulsive decision involving a huge financial investment and years of work filled with self-doubt and uncertainty, and here we are. Ben Harel’s ideal story is one that unpredictably reshapes itself, mischievously deceives others, and shamelessly fights the world. However, given this is his first go with being a writer, he’s settled for a weird little heartwarming comedy about dead people. As a therapist, he leverages his daily experiences listening to stories and processing emotions in order to help him understand and write characters (none of which are based on actual clients—please do not sue him). His passions include reading (with his cat), watching movies (with his cat), playing games (with his cat), and occasionally standing up.
