Superhero fatigue isn’t new—so why does the industry keep going back?

Every few years, the same conversation comes back—are audiences tired of superheroes? But this isn’t a new phenomenon. It’s happened across decades of film, television, and even earlier media.

This video looks at why Hollywood keeps returning to superhero stories, not just as characters, but as a storytelling structure built around continuation.

From radio serials and early television to modern blockbuster films, superhero stories have consistently adapted to new forms of media. What appears to be repetition is actually something more fundamental to how the industry operates.

By Brian Isaacs - Executive Editor / Publisher

An avid comic collector/reader for over 50 years and self-proclaimed professor of comicology, Brian originally started up the site Pendragon's Post to share his voice. Well, that voice has been shared and evolved into The Fanboy Factor. Brian is an advocate for remembering comic roots, and that we don't forget what was created in the past, and encourage everyone to read it as well. When not swimming in geek culture, he can be seen corrupting..introducing his young son to comics, much to his wife's chagrin.
