Issue 2 of this Joe Hill imprint comic gets us a little further into the narrative. The stage of the location (Maine, a few decades ago) and the characters are all in place. Action!
And action it is, with Clausen’s hourse on Brody Island the scene of a messy home invasion. There are deaths!
Written by Joe Hill, illustrated by Leomacs and coloured by Dave Stewart, this issue is a gripper. The artwork is good solid line art, the colouring is murky Maine misty madness. When there are escaped convicts around, no one’s safe. A basketful of desperate horror indeed.
The backup strip continues, with two pages (part 3) of the SeaDogs, written by Joe Hill and illustrated in fine George Evans/Reed Crandall style by Dan McDaid. Colour is by John Kalisz. The chapters are incredibly brief, but It’s dark, scullerous, and hobblingly dramatic stuff.
