Comic Review: Tales of Harrow County: Deaths Choir #1 (Dark Horse Comics)

Things in Harrow County are never as they seem no matter how dark something looks it can always go darker!

I love the look of Harrow County comics and this is no different it’s almost like a watercolour and lulls you into a false sense of safety. It looks just like 50’s America would in the movies until it doesn’t. Harrow county never shys away from a bit of emotion either and I honestly felt for poor Rudy having to deliver the bad news of a death to parents but it set the scene brilliantly as to what’s happening in the surrounding world. Another part of the scene-setting is the fact that Bernice is clearly not a doctor even though it seems like she does a lot of the healing, could it be because of her ethnicity or gender or perhaps both but again it sets the scene of rural America a scene possibly needed as a backdrop for what comes next.

When the song appears and the parents get their surprise visit if you have read Harrow County before you may start to get an inkling that this may turn out bad for those involved and of course the supernatural never fails to deliver.

I cant wait to see how Bernice handles this as she is clearly the one that is going to have to deal with this.
