Image Comics brings you another war comic genre that relates to the cold war in Lost Soldiers the graphic novel. 
So I’ve been getting a lot of comics that relate to war, but every character during a war has their own story, depending on themselves or politics. And this comic is much more like M.A.Y.O Tata Ramo comic from Dark Horse that gives you resources about Mexican politics, however this comic brings you a lot of violence, war, and terrorism. The comic is written by Ales Kot and illustrated by Luca Casalanguida. Ales is also a director and producer with his focus on film, comics, television, and video games. He wrote so many titles such as Zero, Wolf, Material, Change, The Surface, and Wild Children comic which he received many accolades from media which came from entertainment magazines.
The front cover of the comic shows that the artist focused on a negative space of this illustration and drew an image of the bullet with three soldiers that came from the negative space, so there’s not much to talk about. However, on the back of the book, the setting might take place in the past during the war and after the war is over which in Vietnam in 1969 and somewhere in Mexico in 2009.
The story starts when each day, many soldiers faced so many battles and ended in a bad way, and every soldier has a story of their own. Once upon a time, some soldiers are going through some struggles in life. Everything to them is a memory that they’ll never forget. The soldiers are fighting a battle in Juarez and so many people end up injured or dead. One of the three soldiers is still alive and grown-up until they became old 40 years later. In 2009 at Juarez, some group just started to fight against some gang members or something, it’s just another war in modern life. All of this will never be the same to have an ordinary life. I do wonder what would happen next with their lives being corrupted in the cycle of war.
The story can be as complicated as it ever is because these men have fought in some pointless war that almost left their friends and family. I don’t know what to say, but this is one of the sickest comics that I’ve ever read. I can’t say about the art style, because Luca’s art style is more of a Marvel Comics material. So, the thing about this comic is so oriented with violence and war, this would be enough for the adult readers to experience what war is like. If you ever want to read a comic in which some soldiers became corrupted and somehow get to start another war, then this is for you.
