It’s a kick in the sides, this 6 Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton #2, from Image.

The story centres around a dead guy who was thoroughly disliked. He was Trigger Keaton, the 70’s TV action star. Loved by TV audiences, despite his revolting behaviour on set and off. He went through cars and sidekicks like they were going out of style.
And now, they are teaming up to review the reading of his miserable will, and to track down his killer.

It’s crash up derby, my friend, as the friction among the unloved sidekicks gets us our laughs. The school of hard knocks never really opened its doors of opportunity to this bunch, so we’re hearing some rough bellyaching for sure. Like the Three Stooges if there were six of them.

But it’s compelling, fascinating, this mix of tropes and malanthropes. Evil and neglected, aching in sincerity and struggling looking to better their bitter existence. Powerfully written, no kidding, by Kyle Starks. The art is a really interesting line style, with no feathering or line width change, but instead a solid single line rendering that is reminscent of some European artists. This artist Chris Schweizer, is someone to watch. Colour assist by Liz Trice Schweizer.

A thrilling, off-the-cuff, guffaw and guts rollicking adventure for sure.
